This striking red and white haori is from the Showa period, somewhere around the 1960s-1970s, and is made from polyester fabric woven to imitate the look of shibori - giving it that characteristic speckled texture across the whole surface while being a more practical and easy-care alternative to silk. The design features a bold all-over higaki pattern - a classic Japanese geometric motif of interlocking diagonal squares, each one filled with a starburst centre created by the shibori-style dyeing, giving the whole surface a rich, almost jewel-like quality. The inside is lined in a soft white fabric with a delicate pale pink floral and wave print. Bold and warm in colour, this haori has a real energy to it - the kind of piece that brightens up any outfit the moment you put it on.
Throw it over a simple outfit to instantly elevate your look, or wear it as a relaxed layer at home - this haori works effortlessly across both worlds.
Haori ties (haori himo) are not included for this item but can be purchased separately.
