This olive green and white haori is from the Showa period, somewhere around the 1960s-1970s, and is made from polyester fabric woven to imitate the look of shibori - giving it that characteristic speckled texture across the whole surface while being a more practical and easy-care alternative to silk. Delicate bamboo (take) branches with small white flower accents run freely across the entire garment - bamboo is one of the most cherished motifs in Japanese culture, representing resilience, flexibility and quiet strength. The inside is lined in a matching fabric continuing the same bamboo motif. Understated and earthy, this haori has a natural calm to it - the kind of piece that goes with almost everything and feels just right in any season.
