This navy men's haori is a beautifully made piece in soft silk, likely from the mid-Showa era (around the 1950s-1970s). The outer side is a deep, understated navy with a fine tone-on-tone woven texture that catches the light softly. The reverse reveals a hand-painted golden dragon rising through swirling grey and blue-green waves - a bold contrast to the quiet navy. The dragon is a symbol of strength, protection and good fortune, and paired with the waves it speaks to power and resilience. Understated on one side and full of movement on the other. Traditionally, only the wearer would ever know of the dragon within - but we think it deserves to be seen, and we recommend wearing it both ways.
Throw it over jeans and a tee for an easy everyday look, or wear it as a light jacket to dress up a more formal outfit.
Haori ties (haori himo) are not included for this item but can be purchased separately.
