A brown men's haori, made of very thin and lightweight silk, likely from the mid to late Showa era, around the 1960s to 1980s. The mid-brown face is left completely plain. The reverse opens into a beautiful scene - temple roofs among trees, a still pond, bamboo and a teapot set among them, worked in muted green, grey and cream, with the buildings drawn in fine detail down to the roof tiles.
The piece is double-sided. Traditionally, only the wearer would ever know of the scene within - but we think it deserves to be seen, and we recommend wearing it both ways.
Throw it over jeans and a tee for an easy everyday look, or wear it as a light jacket to dress up a more formal outfit.
Haori ties (haori himo) are not included for this item but can be purchased separately.
