A navy men's haori made of raw silk, likely from the mid to late Showa era, around the 1960s to 1980s. The navy face is left plain, its fine texture showing only close up. Turn it over and the reverse is a soft periwinkle blue carrying a cream panel across the back, hand painted with snow-covered mountains, a thatched hut by the water, a small boat and a flowering plum branch reaching across the top. An artist's signature and a red seal are set into the lower corner of the painting.
The piece is double-sided. Traditionally, only the wearer would ever know of the landscape within - but we think it deserves to be seen, and we recommend wearing it both ways.
Throw it over jeans and a tee for an easy everyday look, or wear it as a light jacket to dress up a more formal outfit.
Haori ties (haori himo) are not included for this item but can be purchased separately.
