This deep black ladies haori from the Showa period, somewhere around the 1950s-1960s, is a genuinely striking piece - completely plain and minimal from the front, then turning into something else entirely at the back. The design is hand-painted depicting sensu (folding fans) in deep crimson, overflowing with botan (peony) blooms in cream and soft peach, surrounded by trailing maple branches, small seasonal flowers and delicate flowing ribbons. The beautiful painting is the kind of art work that does not stay unnoticed.
Throw it over a simple outfit to instantly elevate your look, or wear it as a more formal jacket.
Haori ties (haori himo) are included and are handmade from silk.
